What you will do

In this position your mission will be to develop innovative solutions for the development and manufacturing of core components of the electrolyzer stack including the electrocatalysts, electrodes etc. You will be the founding member of the electrochemistry R&D group and will help the founders build up a team around this expertise.

 

Your responsibilities

  • Design, develop and implement electrolysis cell components such as electrocatalysts, current collector, coatings, bipolar plates etc.

  • Electrochemical, mechanical, chemical and structural characterization of electrolysis cell component and constituents (CA, CV, LSV, EIS, RDE, zeta potential, SEM, XRD, XPS)

  • Tuning material, components and interfaces to fit functional requirements

  • Design and execute experimental plan to optimize cell and component performance and durability

  • Interface with the modelling and simulation team for complete cell design

  • Interface with the chemical engineering and process design team for optimizing electrolyzer system performance 

  • Work with suppliers to get required materials and parts for the electrolysis cell

  • Stay up to date with the latest research regarding electrocatalyst and electrode materials and provide concise analysis of possible applications to management and rest of the team.

 

Basic qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Industrial Chemistry or Chemical Engineering

  • 1-2 years of academic or industrial experience in electrocatalyst ink formulation and characterization and/or electrode manufacturing and/or electrochemical characterization

  • An unquenchable thirst for knowledge and the ability to quickly adapt to new situations. Enthusiasm and curiosity for all things green hydrogen!

Preferred qualifications

  • PhD degree in chemistry, electrochemistry, industrial chemistry or chemical engineering

  • More than 4 years of academic or industrial experience in development and characterization of electrocatalyst, electrodes, current collectors etc.

  • Experience working with wet chemistry and concomitant safety procedures (MSDS)

  • Scientific background in electrochemistry

  • Experience with materials characterization techniques such as SEM, XRD, UV-VIS, Raman spectroscopy

  • Knowledge of electrochemical methods for electrocatalyst characterization (RDE, half-cell, cyclic voltammetry, etc.)
